Job Summary:
FMFB-A is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as Head of Marketing & Communications. This role is responsible for leading the Bank’s marketing, branding, public relations and external communications across all business segments. The incumbent will play a critical role in strengthening the Bank’s market position, driving customer growth, supporting deposit mobilization efforts, and providing high-level support to the Chief Executive Officer’s Office, including preparation of reports, presentations, and key institutional communications. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, customer acquisition and engagement across all channels, aligning with the Bank’s strategic goals and regulatory standards.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction
- Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies for all business units, including but not limited to microfinance, SME, retail banking, corporate banking, and digital banking.
- Drive marketing initiatives that support customer acquisition, product uptake, and digital growth.
- Align marketing and communication initiatives with FMFB-A’s strategic objectives and growth priorities.
- Lead, mentor and inspire the Marketing and Communication team fostering a culture of innovation, performance and collaboration.
- Manage the departmental budget effectively, ensuring optional resource allocation and measurable ROI on marketing investments and its impact on growth of Bank Business.
- Align local marketing initiatives with AKAM frameworks and standards providing strategic input on market trends, customer behavior and competitive positioning of the Bank.
Corporate Communications & Reputation Management
- Lead corporate communications, including reputation management, public relations, and media engagement.
- Manage brand positioning and ensure a strong and positive institutional image.
- Oversee the development of Chief Executive Officer communications, speeches, key messages, and monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and impactful communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Brand Management
- Safeguard and strengthen FMFB-A’s brand identity across all platforms and customer touchpoints.
- Ensure consistency of brand and messaging across all channels, campaigns, and communications.
Marketing Operations & Digital Presence
- Oversee the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, promotions, events, and digital media initiatives.
- Lead Above the Line and Below the Line marketing activities and monitor campaign performance and effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with business units to promote products and services effectively.
- Manage external vendors, media agencies, and creative partners.
- Drive digital transformation in marketing, optimizing the bank’s online presence, including website, mobile app experience, and social media channels.
- Oversee and ensure regular management and updating of FMFB-A’s official website and all social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the Bank’s brand and communication strategy.
Market Research & Customer Insights
- Lead market research, customer insights, and segmentation initiatives.
- Provide customer insights to inform product development, marketing campaigns, and business decisions.
- Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and analyze client behavior and trends. Utilize data analysis and market research to understand customer journeys and personalize marketing messages.
Resource Mobilization & Partnerships
- Support the Bank’s resource mobilization efforts, including donor engagement and partnership development.
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals, concept notes, and institutional materials for funding opportunities.
Support to Chief Executive Officer’s Office
- Provide strategic and operational support to the Chief Executive Officer’s Office, including preparation of:
- Reports, presentations, and briefing materials
- Key messages, speeches, and communication packs
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs for internal and external stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop the Marketing & Communications team to deliver against business objectives.
- Mentor staff, build team capacity, and ensure high performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communication initiatives.
Governance & Representation
- Contribute to institutional planning and budgeting processes.
- Represent FMFB-A at national and international forums.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or his or her designate.
Job Specification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the banking, financial services, or any other international organizations.
- Strong commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and experience in multi-market environments
- Experience in resource mobilization, partnerships, or donor engagement is an asset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership, project management, and organizational abilities.
