Support in Solidarity with Communities Affected by the Kunar Earthquakes

Kabul, Afghanistan, 14 September 2025

A series of magnitude 6.0 earthquakes struck eastern Afghanistan. The epicenter was in Kunar Province. Neighboring Nangarhar and parts of Laghman were also hit hard. Homes, water sources, and livelihoods were damaged. Another strong quake on 4 September increased the damage and the need for urgent assistance.

The worst hit districts include Nurgal and Chawkay in Kunar, and Dara e Nur in Nangarhar.

In the aftermath of the quakes, FMFB A team from the Head Office, along with the Jalalabad Branch staff, carried out a rapid assessment and delivered NFI (non-food item) aid packages to affected families. The emergency response team, in coordination with other AKDN agencies, worked with local authorities and community representatives to ensure the safety of people in Kunar.
